How Every Week is Structured

Depth, not cramming. Each element of the programme is designed to build lasting algebraic fluency and mathematical confidence.

Every Week
75-Min Taught Session

Retrieval quiz · New content · Guided problem-solving · Homework briefing — all in one focused session.

Homework
Marked & Returned

All homework marked with written feedback returned within 72 hours — so gaps are closed quickly.

Group Size
Maximum 4 Students

Ability-matched groups — individual attention alongside peer learning. Never lost in the crowd.

Programme
2 Full Academic Years

36 teaching weeks per year — a two-year model that builds genuine ability that short-term revision courses cannot replicate.

Face-to-Face Holiday Intensive Sessions

Five 2-hour face-to-face intensives across the two years — timed to consolidate, extend, and ultimately prepare for the AQA examinations.

Year Session Duration Focus
Year 1 October half-term 2 hrs Algebra consolidation & early progress review
Easter break 2 hrs Coordinate Geometry & Calculus extended practice
Summer break 2 hrs Year 1 consolidation & Year 2 topic preview
Year 2 October half-term 2 hrs Matrices deep-dive & cross-topic problem-solving
Easter break 2 hrs FINAL EXAM PREP: Timed papers, mark schemes & grade targeting

What Your Child Studies Each Term

The two-year curriculum is carefully sequenced — each term builds on the last, progressing from algebraic foundations to full exam readiness.

Autumn Term

Algebra & Functions

Completing the square, polynomial methods, algebraic proof, functions and function notation.

Spring Term

Coordinate Geometry

Circles and tangents, simultaneous equations, discriminant & roots, geometric reasoning.

Summer Term

Calculus & Trigonometry

Differentiation, optimisation, stationary points, sine rule, cosine rule, and trigonometric identities.

Full AQA Level 2 Curriculum

Every topic on the AQA 8365 specification is covered in depth, with strong emphasis on problem-solving, proof, and exam technique throughout.

Advanced Algebraic Methods & Proof

Completing the square, polynomial methods, algebraic proof — the foundation of the entire course.

Coordinate Geometry: Circles & Tangents

Equation of a circle, tangent constructions, intersections with lines, and geometric reasoning.

Functions, Notation & Graph Transformations

Function notation, domain and range, composite and inverse functions, and all standard transformations.

Calculus: Differentiation & Stationary Points

Introduction to calculus — differentiation from first principles, optimisation, and stationary point analysis.

Trigonometry: Sine Rule, Cosine Rule, Identities

Non-right-angled triangles, area of triangle formula, key identities, and solving trig equations.

Matrix Transformations in 2D

Representing and composing 2D transformations using matrices — the unique AQA Further Maths topic.

Problem-Solving & Mathematical Reasoning

Multi-step problems, proof by exhaustion and deduction, logical reasoning chains throughout the course.

Exam Technique & Past Paper Practice

Three full mocks, systematic past paper bank, mark scheme analysis, and targeted grade targeting.

A Measurable Head Start
for Sixth Form & Beyond

"The AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics bridges the gap between Higher GCSE and A-level. It develops algebraic fluency, logical reasoning, and mathematical confidence that top grades and strong sixth-form progression demand. Students arrive at A-level having already encountered differentiation, proof, matrix transformations, and function notation — a measurable head start. A two-year model builds genuine ability that short-term revision courses cannot replicate."
Two-year depth — not short-term cramming
36 weeks per year of structured, sequenced learning — genuine ability, not surface-level revision.
Strengthens Higher GCSE problem-solving
The advanced content reinforces and deepens the core Higher GCSE curriculum at the same time.
Direct bridge to A-level Maths & Further Maths
Students enter Year 12 already familiar with calculus, proof, functions, and matrices — a real advantage from day one.
Professional reporting & parent accountability
Termly written reports, twice-yearly parent review calls, and three full mock exams with written feedback.
Specialist pathway for Oxbridge, Medicine & STEM
Top universities expect strong mathematical reasoning — this qualification signals exactly that, long before A-levels.
